GirlForward is an Austin based charity with Chicago roots dedicated to helping refugee girls ages 14 to 21 adapt smoothly and safely into America. It isn’t being a refugee of any kinds, but unfortunately girls are especially vulnerable to violence, isolation, and a lack of education during times of civil unrest. GirlForward’s mission is to help these young girls feel safe and at home, even in a different country.
In this episode of Everyday Superhumans Charlie and Kyle chat with Karnika Iyengar, the executive director of GirlForward, about the many challenges refugee girls face and how GirlForward is helping them overcome them.
